Reflection

I started off only knowing that I was a graffiti artist. Now I know a little more. Graffiti is a way of communicating through your art. Hieroglyphics is a form of graffiti even though it was the alphabet for the Egyptians. It was still a way of expressing yourself through images. The pictures I use to draw to express my self changed throughout the years. I use to express my self by drawing dragonballz pictures. I got older and started making up my own cartoons. Than I started drawing words and pictures. Now I just mix everything up. During the process of this research my credible sources were jstor.org and a book called Graffiti and the writing arts of early modern England. I found both sites through Google scholar. I gained some knowledge and information about graffiti. The pictures I used for each post were from Google images. During the process of doing this project I did not think I would finish but I did. I picked a topic and stuck with it. I feel I could have done better but graffiti was a challenging subject. I still consider myself as a graffiti artist. Graffiti is still my favorite art style. One day I would to spray paint something like a train. I wonder how long would the picture stay on there. I wish I had some of graffiti pictures so I could post them on here but I do not. After all the research I have, I still come to say that graffiti would always be the art style that people look down on as something bad. Growing up I didn’t really know right from wrong but graffiti and just drawing pictures was one of the ways to express my self. My personal opinion is graffiti is the best way of art to express you.

Personal experience

Graffiti has been a way of expressing me with out talking. The way I learned how to do graffiti was by looking at older family members draw. My drawings got better as the more I drew pictures. Looking at graffiti on buildings and pictures was an inspiration. The more advanced pictures with a lot of details in the picture made me a better drawer. Some of the pictures I drew I made them up. During the process of my graffiti I say my skills went up and down because sometimes I would stop drawing and take my attention off it to do something like basketball. When I was in 8th grade I had a basketball that I drew on with sharpie markers and everybody thought I bought it like that. I drew a picture of Mickey Mouse and wrote Mickey Mouse on it. I wish I would have sold the ball because somebody stole it from the court. I knew growing up it was not the right thing to draw on buildings but I and my friends did it anyway. We were all artist in our own ways. Most of us had the same type so style but some o of my friends were into music. The reason I am into art the way I am is because I have a lot of artist in my family to look up to. The main artists I use to look up to were my cousins. One of my cousins was real animated and my other cousin drew realistic things. I’m not as well as them but I hope tube someday. I picked up both of their skills. I think my animated skills might be a little better than drawing something realistic. Overall though drawing animation on walls was much easier for me. It was easy to draw a cartoon and make some bubble letters. I have never got caught for doing graffiti on walls but I really don’t do it no more. I m not saying I m going to stop completely because one day y I just might feel like doing some graffiti. I would try my best to get authorized permission and make some money off it or something.

your choice

During the years using graffiti and how I just like the art style. I feel that I always liked graffiti because I like to draw. I first realize I was a good drawer in third grade where everybody keeps asking me and my cousins to draw those pictures. Watching cartoons improved my drawing skills. If I had to which cartoon helped me out the most I would say diagonals. I learned if you be patient really any body can learn how to draw. My skills got better in graffiti when I learned about pastels. When I started using pastels in 5th grade it made my shading skills better. I started experimented with colors and started blending colors .for a minute I just keep drawing with ink pens and pencils .when I reached my 8th grade year I started using pastels aging except this time my cousin came up with the idea of drawing on people clothes and charging them. We use to draw cartoons and the person name.

Than as I got a little older I start drawing with spray paint on abandoned buildings. I use to draw my nickname which is kind of my logo. My favorite Simpson which was Bart Simpson. Some times doing graffiti you just got let go and express yourself through the picture by none stop drawing and let the picture be made. When I look at other people graffiti it makes me feel like an armature because the way the make one picture mean allot of other things. I would like to take my art to the next level. I would like to be a professional and get paid to do graffiti on the side of a building or something. Or I would like to design my own cartoon with my skills .the only thing I know is I would like to better my art skills

history

The history of graffiti I found through Google scholars was that graffiti is basically looked at mostly as a crime. Author: Ferrell, J. Title: Crimes of style: Urban graffiti and the politics of criminality. Publisher: New York: Garland. (235pp).Year: 1993. He was saying that Graffiti first came to public attention in the late 1960s, mainly in New York City and largely as an outgrowth of political radicalism and of black and Hispanic empowerment and identity. Graffiti was of interest aesthetically for its fusion of multiple styles drawn from mass culture and from more specific ethnic traditions as well as two innovations specific to New York City graffiti writers: the 'tag,' as stylized logo which identified the otherwise anonymous artist and the use of subway cars as canvases. Some more information I found through Google scholars was a paper which Justin Longo wrote which was titled A Full History of Graffiti – 1965-2002. He was from New Century College.

In the paper he stated that graffiti has been a staple of mankind since man first exercised his creative genius. Ever since the first caveman flexed the right half of his brain, some form of graffiti, on some form of a public outlet, has come to be a part of society. Whether it is shapes and hardly identifiable images scrawled on a wall inside of a cave, or a message in the form of public outcry. My history of graffiti is drawing on walls and expressing myself through pictures. I acknowledge a lot of graffiti work because you can think you just look at one picture where there is another picture or a hidden messages I the picture. Tattoos are graffiti to me to. People putting art on there body to express the way they feel. This is my knowledge of the history of graffiti.

"Credible versus non-credible sources

A noncredible source is graffiti.org because i want to know when was graffiti started but instead it tells me aboutn people art crimes. it shows images of graffiti but it dont answerany of the questions i have about graffiti.

Wikipedia.com is another non-cedible source because it tells some good information about what i want to know but i dont know if its true because any body can post a comment on there website so you dont know what you can believe on there.

A credible source was jstor.org this was a credible source because it didnt have any pop ups or nothing and eerything looked the part. the page had footnotes and i found this site through google scholar.

.

a credible source i found also through google scholar was a book called Graffiti and the writing arts of early modern England. the book only has one author and there are no popups or advertisements on the page. juliet fleming is the author of the book. something i read from the book was "graffiti invites us to imagine a practice within which writing and drawing are not fully distinguish", thats why i say that graffiti is a frree minded art skill that people have.

thes are my credible and non credible sources i haved used. i haved learned that finding soures through the internet isnt easier than it seems wm=hen you have know if the source really telling you the truth or is it just something some body posted on the inter =net

The reason I choose graffiti is because its my favorite art style. You can mainly do whatever you want to do.Graffiti kind is away to show your feelings and express your self threw your art talent. My personal experience with graffiti is that its been around me forever.A lot of my family members are good at art so I guess you could say that its in me to kind of have art skills. When I was in grammer school I use to make and graffiti shirts for my self. I use to make all types of designs. First I would draw a cartoon like mickey mouse and put my name in graffiti letters on the back.I wish I still had the shirt but I think I threw it away.I dont know if I could say this but I spray painted an abanded building with my nick name and a picture of bart simpson. When we had to do a graffiti project for art my 11th grade year I drew my nickname because its kind of my logo. My nickname has tae for how long as I could remember. I express myself by drawing that name all the time. I am a quiet person during school so I look at that side of me as being andrew. Tae is the free part of me the person who is always trying to express his self through any ways as he can.

The only things I know about graffiti is that it’s a type of art. There are some questions I have about graffiti such as is their person who just created it. Do people communicate through graffiti as like the Egyptians use to use horrific? Are there certain styles of art that’s graffiti? Why do some people hate graffiti? Example some people always look at it as vandalism. To me graffiti is one of the easiest art forms. Why isn’t graffiti art not worthies much as other art. Graffiti has been in my life for as long as I could remember. Art in general has allotted to do with the world, more than people think. Well an artist named Charlie hales says that threes evidence of graffiti from ancient times. Some evidence was found in places like Rome and Greece. I saw this information on (npr.org). There is allotting of graffiti artist in the world. I look at myself as a graffiti artist. Most people that are graffiti artist are free minded people. Having skills in graffiti could probably get you a job in advertising. I say that because people need a design for a logo to sell a product. That guts a lot to do with art. Where did the word graffiti even come from. Why do they call it graffiti?
